Our direction is to move away from using the HTTP password at all and use the IDVault and/or federated authentication instead. Thats why I'm pushing back on this idea because we dont want to spend time on something that is going to be obsolete.
Better solution: Upgrade to Domino 12 and authenticate users against the Notes ID passwords in the ID vault
