In the past many companies chose Domino to create applications with workflow, because it was a tool for rapid development, easy maintenance and integrated with security and email features.
Today there are many similar tools on the market, and Domino does not yet have a feature to create a workflow displaying in diagram form by displaying the steps of the flow and its actions easily and quickly, which makes it a major disadvantage if comparing The Domino HCL with other software for developing applications with workflow, example: Microsoft Power Automate.
So I suggest a tool similar to what Domino Leap (formerly known as Domino Volt) has, as it is not possible to integrate the Domino Leap wokflow tool into existing Domino applications, Domino Designer should have a feature where you can create the entire flow visually by drawing the diagram and choosing the actions that will be performed and then the form buttons in the designer would be possible to call the execution of each specific worklfow step using a Simple Action, Formula, Lotus Script, SSJS, or Java.
The benefits will be to make the workflow in Domino faster and easier to maintain, allowing any developer or user to easily view the application's worklflow flow to make the documentation, development, and maintenance process much more agile and easier.
The idea would be a feature in Domino Designer itself, to add more functionality to Domino Designer, thus allowing to evolve large existing applications or develop new applications faster. Applications that can be accessed via client, web and mobile (Nomad). Instead of creating a button in Domino Designer where I call an agent that runs a Lotus Script/Java to send email, change the status field, Authors and Readers field... what would be done would be a call to the new element of workflow with visual diagram where everything was parameterized. In my application, there could be several workflows made with this new feature, so in my form, or agent, I would make a call to one of the created workflows, Example: @Command("[ExecuteWorkflow]";"workflow name") or Call workflow.("workflow name") This suggestion is to improve the process of creating workflows for Domino applications created using Domino Designer.
