There are several ways to generate an .eml file from an email in LotsScript. DXL or NotesMIMEEntity can be used. However, it is complicated and unreliable. It will fail on some emails. Dragging the e-mail from the view will create an .eml file without any problems. The same code would need to be made available in LotusScript. Export as one line of code.

Especially when using Notes for Applications while running other mail products, this really would be useful.
We need a class to export and import eml files. that would make some migration tasks much easier
