Do not expand design categories automatically

Today, whenever I open a design element or switch to a design element that was previously opened, Designer automatically expands the corresponding category of design elements in the left navigation pane. This can be quite confusing in applications containing a large number of design elements of that category.

For example, our XPages apps usually contain hundreds of Custom Controls. After I open one of them, the only thing I can see in the left navigation pane is a very long list of CCs. I then have to scroll endlessly to open, for example, a Java design element.

I'd much prefer it if Designer would leave design categories collapsed in those cases.

    Thanks for your hint! You are perfectly right. After years of working with Designer, one still discovers new features... My idea seems to be obsolete then.

    it’s an option. Try to toggle one of the icons at the top left of the design elements.

    One of them does the trick.
