HCL Support for OpenNtf tools : "Domino Debug Plugin" / "On-Disk-Project Tooling for Maven and Eclipse"

With version 9.x.x, we used the "Domino Debug Plugin" comming from OpenNtf. This alowed us to developp more efficiently our Domino OSGi plugin with just Designer and a small Domino serveur on the same computer.

This no longer works with version 12 of Domino/Designer

Now, with HCL Domino/Designer v12, to developp and test our plugin, we have to :

  • use another Eclipse to build the plugin (Designer cannot do it anymore)

  • use Designer to deploy it manually on our small server

"Domino Debug Plugin" has been "upgraded" in XPages SDK for Eclipse RCP... and the same author proposes its "NSF ODP Tooling" (On-Disk-Project Tooling for Maven and Eclipse) help developpers to work ... without Designer !

Perhaps HCL could promote and support these tools to:

- make again Domino application development as easy as previous versions allowed

- allow its customers to train while considering that this investment will be profitable.

Another point : even if the necessary plugins have been installed and activated beforehand, it sometimes does not compile all the Xpages or Java code. A manual "project/clean" is then necessary before using the resulting NTF :-(
