Enhance Document Locking to become more robust & user friendly

A few of our widely used Notes applications have document locking enabled.

Due to Covid-19 we have currently hundreds of Notes users working in their HomeOffice.

Thus users often get incomprehensible (internal) error messages due to unreliable wlan/internet connections or wrong location settings.

The document locking handling needs enhancements:

  • better retry handling on (temporary) loss of connection

  • comprehensible error messages in the language of the Notes client

  • notification messages about locking errors into Domino log and/or as email to admins

    I agree, activating doc locking always gives extra work for the admin monthly, as users call often for unreleased locks. There should be a time threashold after which the lock is cleared. Why would a lock be kept after one or two days ?

    German users see this error message in the German Notesclient:

    "Changes made to database 'Produktentwicklungsplan' have NOT been incorporated into the database"
