A member server in a Symmetrical Clustering can disable the auto creation of new dbs only on some servers in the cluster

Suppose we have a domino cluster with 2 servers, server A and server B. In the domino cluster is implemented simmetrical cluster only on some folders, folder1, folder2, folder3, folder4 and folder5.

I create a new server called server C and i put it on domino cluster. So now the domino cluster has 3 servers, server A, server B and server C.

Since the symmetrical cluster is configured in the domino cluster environment, i will have on server C the automatic creation of the same folders existing in the simmetrical cluster configuration, i mean the folder1, folder2, folder3, folder4 and folder5.


Q1: how can i avoid this? I want to add the server C in the domino cluster but i don't want the automatic creation of folders only for the server C.


Q2: how can i have the automatic creation only for some folders, for example folder2 and folder4 and not for other folders?

    The purpose of a cluster is failover / resilience and a symmetrical cluster -as the name implies- is supposed to be symmetrical=identical. So this is working as designed. If you want clusters that are not symmetrical, then dont use this feature or dont join server #3 to the cluster.

    There are tools provided by business partners to support the automated creation of database replicas. e.g. Infoware DomainPatrol Sync

    This should be added in the next release because in my opinion it is a useful configuration for simmetrical cluster.
