LDAP: Allow use of email id instead of DN to access web applications

When using Directory assistance to point to AD LDAP, use of username@example.com in Domino Access control group does not work for accessing web applications. If instead of email address, users name in DN format is added in Domino ACL groups, users then able to access the web apps.

For authentication, Domino looks for the Distinguished Name of the user. So for AD even if they authenticate with a email address, Domino use the AD LDAP DN for the name for access control purposes.

We would like to use username@example.com in Domino ACL group to get access to the web application. We don't want to use DN format names in Domino ACL groups because of the readability in the groups as the DNs in 3rd party LDAP directory are pretty long and would display with word wraps in the Domino group.
