Add multifactor authentication for users authenticating through MS Active Directory

We develop custom web applications for manufacturing companies. Most of our customers run Domino for this purpose only. They do not have registered Notes user IDs. They use MS Active Directory with Directory Assistance to authenticate to our databases. Security is an increasingly paramount concern and our customers are now demanding multifactor authentication to the applications. Domino only supports multifactor authentication for users that have a Notes ID in the ID Vault. Obviously, this capability leaves out most of our customers.

Please add multifactor authentication support for users that exist in MS Active Directory.

if authentication is done by a 3rd party (MS AD), I guess you have configured SAML / ADFS authentication. In this case the actions required for authentication are entirely defined by the ADFS server. If you want to use 2FA, you will need to enable it at the ADFS server instead of activating it in Domino.

In short: you can already do that today, talk to your ADFS admins
