DB recompile by server

Recompiling a database is slow, and locks up Notes Client, Designer and Administrator while it runs. This can take 30 minutes or more depending on latency etc. If a console command could be issued via Admin client to recompile lotusscript, it would be faster and release the developer's client for other work. The design elements could still be signed by the person issuing the recompile instruction.

I would also welcome this for cases where recompilation is performed on a remote database over a slow connection.

I wonder why it takes so long to recompile the LotusScript code. Even my biggest application runs within a few seconds up to a minute, or so. The design usually is downloaded to your local Notes/Data/workspace directory and should therefore be fast. In cases that you have your Notes/Data on slow network drives, you'll find the problem in that architecture.

For all other statements: I agree, this would be handy. :-)

Our company policies don't allow local replicas.

I guess you are currently replicating the database to your local client innorder to run the recompile action faster?
