Welcome to the #dominoforever Product Ideas Forum! The place where you can submit product ideas and enhancement request. We encourage you to participate by voting on, commenting on, and creating new ideas. All new ideas will be evaluated by HCL Product Management & Engineering teams, and the next steps will be communicated. While not all submitted ideas will be executed upon, community feedback will play a key role in influencing which ideas are and when they will be implemented.

InstallAnywhere has had issues with TEMP directories before but this isn't their fault. Setting an environment variable like IATEMPDIR in your shell will not change how Domino installs. You have to make this environment variable persistent across shells - permanent - until the install is finished.
This is because the script that installs Domino invokes it's own shell. It gets the defaults, so any you just set for your current shell are lost. Tricky!
This is a limitation of the InstallAnywhere product. A workaround exists and is documented here: https://community.revenera.com/s/article/altering-default-temporary-directory-for-installanywhere-unix-unix-like-platforms
Run: export IATEMPDIR=/local/temp
export TMPDIR=/local/temp
./install.bin -i silent -f response.varfile -J-Djava.io.tmpdir=/local/temp
