Do you have an unpatched Domino 9.0.1?
Domino 9.0.1 and Window Server Platfom call odbc or web service.
What version of Domino and what platform are you experiencing agent hangs on?
I mean that NSD -kill should not be solution for agent hang. The agent process should be stable and restart properly.
NSD -kill still exists. While IBM Domino Diagnostics may not be running as a service on the Domino server, it is still possible to run nsd -kill. Do you mean that nsd -kill is not the preferred solution since it brings the server down, not just the process that is hung?
