Domino Configuration Tuner I think was some of the best he did with Lotus... before selling "Lotus Notes" to HCL
HCL should add new features to DCT, and adapt DCT rules for new versions, new best practices, and new features (eg, MFA, internet password lockout, R10/11/12 security, new variables in the ini, deprecated variables, etc, etc)
This tool is useful for administrators who have no experience in Domino administration, currently there are very few resources with experience in Domino administration, this tool gives a person with little knowledge the possibility to better administer the platform.
Still waiting for an upgraded version of this tool. It was very helpful in its day.
Solution for inst problems with extended security (execution/file system)
a) run admin client as admin
b) open dct.ntf v12 in designer
c) export jar applets. dct.jar to /notes/jar/lib/jar - rest to /data
rule definitions still from 2010 ! solution ?
After update with dct.ntf version 12.0 (25.08.2020)
I get this: "dct.nsf is on Local (Rule Definitions: 05.11.2010)"
and old values like: CREATE_R85_DATABASES=1 (missing)
a) Should I delete the old dct.nsf?
b) Is our Firewall blocking updates?
c) Is it a bug?
d) Result as expected?
Thank You
DCT is a great tool to identify best practices and settings. Not all make sence for all environements, but at least it helps to detect issues.
I'd really love to have an updated version.
Please upgrade design and definition rules for use with the current HCL Domino release!
When will DCT get an update for definition rules in Template 12 (actualy still from 2010!!!)
please, upgrade rules, add more best practices settings, more intuitive ..etc..
Any progress on this?
Ahhh.... just discovered that the DCT was available from the HCL site. However, the rules are from 2010. We really need updated rules so we can use this tool to clean up e.g. notes.ini in connection with upgrades to 11.01 :-)
11.0.1 - The Update button has been removed. I know it went to IBM to get updates, but heck, you promised an updated version of this, not going backwards! Now I cannot access the 2014 list of Rules, so I'm stuck on the default 2010 set!
all technoted referended in DCT are in IBM site ... this techonotes are down ... please, update DCT with new rules definitions and correct/new URL
DCT does not work with version 11.
I opened a ticket with HCL support, they can reproduce.
It's hard to believe it's been 5 years since we had any updates to this. Updates should at least come with every major release as appropriate settings change for each version.

Yes, more rules. Used to get updates every couple months but now no updates since 2014. We now have a new JVM. On iSeries, Java_Home has changed locations. Is the OpenNTF extension library installed on a newer server? Don't need it anymore. New SSL state of the art requires cipher list to be updated. TLS_1 shouldbe disabled now. Stuff like that.
Maybe more granular suggestions too. Eg. is it a mail server, application server, administration server, web server, clustered server, traveler server, sametime server, running saml, running diiop?
Can you be more specific on what you would like to see? I guess the user interface is not a concern but the scan rules need update?
