Have you looked at xxx is the wrong way of looking at it - it should 'just work'.
I thought I add my opinion on this, even though this is not my idea.
While Domain Search can do this, it has not been updated since R6.5 (it looks old and feels old) and cannot be triggered by script. One of the frequently asked improvement is to somehow extend the new Domino Query Function to be able to do multiple database search. This way you can run the search query in your code but you would need to built a UI for it.
