Perfomance and web design

Our main problem with our lotus notes apps is performance, we have a very large and complex application with 100 thousands of records, many views and automation processes, our main complaint is performance to documents where lots of information are recorded that it takes long to open and long to save, all of this data is required to be easily accessible in one place so we cannot split it up,  also would be nice to have an easy way to create a web interface for the applications using css, html and javascript maybe use jsp as a server side language, the xpages idea was initially good but its too complicated and not very efficient  and not easily integrated with other technologies in my opinion.
