A automatic language detection would be great. Or the possibility to select more than one default dictionary. Definitely a more contemporary smarter client behavior would be nice in further releases.
On the fly language detection and change would be a great help. This should occur on untagged texts only!
Example:
If I start writing a text in English - using typical English words - the language should automatically assume "English" as language. If I create a new paragraph/sentence with German words, "German" should be selected automatically.
But if I tag a sentence with a specific language, that tag should remain, of course.

In Quebec we have a law to protect french language. We need to use french software but communicate in french and english. Could be good to have a dictionnary that work in both language.

Notes v10.x does not do spell check in other languages than English. Need to be fixec soon.

SPR was created in 901 and planned for “release after 901FP10”.
spell check it self works fine with different languages, the only issue is that when typing text, text is not properly tagged with correct language. If manually tagged, it works. We have to detect language in OS locale, and tag properly text

A very good idea for those of us who work with international clients and colleagues, or in bilingual countries (Canada, esp Quebec) and routinely use multiple languages in emails depending on who we're communicating with.
