No clarification needed, the feature is common and understood. Appreciate the idea and all the feedback! Thank you
I'm not sure what clarification needs to be said. This would be a great IT support tool like Zoom is for us today.
This needs to be implemented. Without it, Sametime is not competitive with Zoom, Teams, Teamviewer, or any other video conferencing software.
Just two words: Urgently needed.
This is possibly the only functionality to combat the lack of whiteboard.
Listen to your guest comments below...
Jitsi had "remote control" functionality of screensharing, but was apparently removed due to security reasons. Can a secure re-implementation of remote control be looked into - at least for a single application window - not necessarily the entire desktop.
...and previous Sametime versions also had this feature, with whiteboarding.
This will be a game changer for IT support.
The feature to "Allow Control" in Sametime 9 and prior releases is a must. We will not be able to upgrade to a newer Sametime version until it has that functionality; otherwise management will have us migrate to a different platform that does have it.
This even needs a request? I wouldn't consider buying a video conferencing tool that doesn't allow anyone in the meeting the ability to share their screen. Didn't old versions of Sametime allow for this? Sametime will not be a contender in the market without this basic functionality. -dh
I can see why they haven't done this so they can have a pure browser solution using WebRTC, but having the option to take control/see someone else's screen is a key feature. Name another web meeting tool that doesn't allow this, also it is removing functionality that has been there since the first version of Sametime.
Would be great for Domino Administrators to help fix Notes Client Configuration/Troubleshooting Problems for their End Users without having to talk them through the configuration/troubleshooting steps. Admins could drive!
