I agree that we have a deteriorated status bar experience. The continual replacement of our developers printed messages replaced with "1 document selected" seems like a retrograde step.
Since V11 the status bar had been placed into a very narrow pop-up window. - I don't know how it is in V12, as we'll upgrade sometime during 2022, but up to now I didn't read about improvements here.
When clicking on the bell icon, a narrow window pops up, that must be manually enlarged to read the messages. Very cumbersome!
I agree to use the full window width, like it was in V10 and before. Using the bell iconto show missed alarms might be an improvement, but all together it's an deterioration.
The new statusbar solution in the Notes 11 client is not very handy. It needs to many clicks to get the log region open and resized. As a developer I always use the statusbar for programm control and debugging. I also use it for showing the user, what the current programm is doing , while the user is waiting for the programm to end.
It is an essential part of the user interface. What I would like to have:
One click in the status bar to open it (like in version 9). Not trying to hit a tiny icon.
Scrolling would be nice
Configuration of the width like in Notes versions before.
Maybe separating Missing Alarms and Status. Keep the click on the tiny icon for displaying the missed alarms.
I don't know about that. The scrolling could be too fast, when I am looking for something in particular. I could support this idea of it were possible to access the log directly from status bar.
