Mostly archive stored into local machine and if user forcefully shutdown notes then that local database will go to consistency check and if local database size is 64 or 256 gb then it will take lot of time to get open .
Also there is lots of chances for archive corruption and if user lots his archive due to some error which has 64 gb data then it's a real problem for everyone and if this feature will available then it will prevent for loss of huge data and this option you can put as optional .
If searching utility work proper then there is no issue to search on multiple archive
On server level we have backup but on local no one take backup .
I'm not comparing this with outlook but this option is available ( I think max 13/15 gb we can set ) there and it's helps to user and admin and if this will available then it will make admin life easy and he don't need to think much about size of archive if it's scheduled for any user .
I asked this query becoz we are migrating from exchange to notes and our client asked same question and asked about who will be responsible if archive size exceeded largly due to this feature is not available and then archive got currupted .
And every admin needs user friendly client which will reduce user work .
I searched about above feature if it's possible in ibm9 then it's possible but need to design mail template with change in some archive script .
So I hope this feature can be added in v10 .
Having multiple archives is causing another issue for the user who needs to search in multiple files to find a specific document. So storing as much as possible in one archive is of benefit for the end user. The size limit of a Domino database is 64GB in the current release - would it help to increase that limit to 256 GB ?
