There is much more to improve research ...v12 notwithstanding ...
It would be interesting if you use DQL in this area
This feature has been shipped in Notes 12.0

to search substring now we need to add * at the end , e.g. DUCA* if I want to find Ducati, users expect to type DUCA without * at the end. please autoappend * if needed. Search by Substring by default.
yes need functions like

in the client, so a text /drop down box can lookup/predict from huge lists. using any part of word. (mid/left/right)
The examples say it all really.
Notes client: And an option to show the search results in the view as the user types in the search bar. A further option that defines the number of characters typed before the search triggers.
I know this may be too slow for some DBs but if we have the option to turn it on and off then we can make the decision.
I think having native type ahead/suggestions for drop downs in the client similar to select2 and other methods used on web and with xpages is really needed. Not left to right characters but any mid character from multi word entries as said like google and the rest of the internet.
a better and easier tool
in notes clients and inotes
