HCL Domino Ideas Portal

Welcome to the #dominoforever Product Ideas Forum! The place where you can submit product ideas and enhancement request. We encourage you to participate by voting on, commenting on, and creating new ideas. All new ideas will be evaluated by HCL Product Management & Engineering teams, and the next steps will be communicated. While not all submitted ideas will be executed upon, community feedback will play a key role in influencing which ideas are and when they will be implemented.

Optimize user input capturing to avoid unneccessary "Do you want to save changes" prompts.

There is an old defect article (KB0106015) describing the problem. If a form contains any kind of list, combo or radio fields and either the focus is set in one of this fields or a refresh is triggered the prompt to save changes will appear even if nothing has been changed.

As a result the user is wondering what might be changed and most likely decides to save the document to ensure nothing is lost. That causes unnecessary saves and database changes. In complex applications additional post save actions will be triggered without any need.

There should be a better way to capture effective changes in the UI and display the prompt only if the user has changed any data.

I despair when I read vendor comments like: "Rewsolved...This behavior is working as designed.... Because the system is behaving according to its underlying architectural design, this behavior is not classified as a product defect."
