Deleted folders should be restorable from Trash

When a user accidentally deletes a folder (or a folder structure), the deleted folder item should be restorable from Trash by the user.

A restored folder (or folder structure) should of course contain all the mail items.

Currently, the restore process for this scenario consumes an inappropriately large amount of time from a skilled Domino administrator.

@Previous Commenter: One of the key points of this idea is the premise of immediate user-level self-service restore.

As far as I understand, SecurTrac needs to be operated by an administrator, which requires users to open incidents with support.

Check out SecurTrac. You can easily restore deteled folder and its email content back to the way it was at the time that the folder was deleted.

When Domino Mail is used as a SaaS cloud product, this self-service data recovery feature is mandatory.

Otherwise the TCO may be too unpredictable.

Yes I agree 100%! this is important for many customer environments.
Not that I understand why people are deleting folders all the time and afterwards figure out this was wrong.. LOL

This is the number one reason for all restores! This would help end-users, reduce helpdesk calls and sometimes complicated restore procedures ..

Having a undo journal for folder move/rename would be also very useful  ;-)
That's the second reason for a restore and even harder to resolve!

For the folder restore, we came up with an idea to make restores easier:

    http://blog.nashcom.de/nashcomblog.nsf/dx/restoring-deleted-folders-in-a-notes-database.htm

I added it to my backup application and described a straightforward way with out of the box tools.

You have my vote as well. It's an pretty usefull idea and we lose a huge amount of time restoring everything, piece by piece.

he recovery of folders deleted by Users is a Nightmare indeed and a common reuqest from Users.

A Soft Deletion or an option to roll back Mailfiles when using Transaction Logging would be highly apreciated.

Yes, this is an issue which is not easy to communicate to a customer. It happens quite often and the customers never understand why a restore is not that simple.

This i a big issue with our company to. You have our vote. We see all kind of simular issues with people who are dragging and dropping with folders an they sometimes just seem to disappear. To get the structure back we have to do all kind of restore requests and drag and drop folders. It is very time consuming work, especially with large mail databases or nested folders.

If it is not possible to restore the folders than please do something with the tags. Save the tags in the document itself, we can make views than. Let's say, save a tag called 'Last Know Folder' or someting like that

You have my vote because this would make the majority of backup restores obsolete. Shouldn't be too hard to implement, because the refences of contained documents are stored in a folder's properties.

Folder recover

If an user delete a folder, all the emails will be still there in the "all document" view, but there is NO way to recover the folder structure. In a Smartcloud environment this means an huge amount of job to recreate the folders and move the email...

Display a reminder when removing a folder

When the user is about to remove a folder, display a reminder that the documents in this folder will not be deleted. Or maybe add an option to delete documents not present in any other folder.
