Already participants can see attendee responses, but only sometimes. I don't know what determines whether these are visible or not. However, even when visible, participants can only see responses for attendees invited at the time the invitation was sent. So a participant will never see the status of another invitee who was invited after the participant in question.
BTW I found the third party add-ins - in my case Ontime in its mobile edition - already offer this feature. Anyhow it is need in the Notes standard client too.
