In my humble opinion the product has to evolve a lot.
According to my experience in different companies, sometimes only Notes are used as email and not as applications that makes the user experience quite bad.
I think it would be a good idea to divide the email client, one that was just email and the other uses something like a basic client and an advanced one in terms of functionality. Or maybe it can be configurable from preferences with an assistant that tells youwhat the purpose of using notes is going to be.

    The interface for email is limited because of a desire to maintain backward compatibility.  I suggested years ago for a email only client that could be updated without having to worry about breaking the Notes client.  Maybe now with the changes they will consider a web based email client.  Maybe Electron?
