Welcome to the #dominoforever Product Ideas Forum! The place where you can submit product ideas and enhancement request. We encourage you to participate by voting on, commenting on, and creating new ideas. All new ideas will be evaluated by HCL Product Management & Engineering teams, and the next steps will be communicated. While not all submitted ideas will be executed upon, community feedback will play a key role in influencing which ideas are and when they will be implemented.

Thank you for all the feedback on this idea over the years. This idea has a number of requests I'd like to review and categorize against v12 and future versions.
Provide a Domino base Sametime deployment
Simplify Sametime install
Include File Transfer and Screen Capture in HCL Sametime (LU)
Automate Database deployment
Since Domino based Sametime deployment is mentioned first, this idea will be focused on it. There are no plans to implement at this time and the idea will remain in this state for now. With that said, as someone who as supported Domino environments for 20+ years I value and understand the reason for this request.
For the remaining requests, I encourage you to go vote on these ideas:
Include "File Transfer" in HCL Sametime (LU)
Include "Screen Capture" in HCL Sametime (LU)
Automate Mongo DB installation for Sametime
Simplifying Sametime deployments will remain a focus. If you have additional ideas on this topic, please submit one or vote/comment on an existing idea.
Thanks,
Trevor Tallackson
Sametime Product Manager
Now with Sametime 11 the Mongo DB needs to be setup manually. This should be automated.

Make Easy to install for small business. The basic Sametime should support printscreen, attachments. It's already available in others websolutions.
I agree it's WAY to complicated. The worst is that you'll have some step "fail" and then don't discover that something way back in the 100s of steps failed, and now you have to start over, or if you are fortunate to run VMware wonder how many snapshots are needed to undo. Most of the time, it doesn't even matter if I took snapshots, I just eat the loss of time and start over and hope no different or same issue or typo the next time I go through all the steps. I like the new policy settings you get with the SSC, I'd not prefer to unlink, but to get that install to a single SMB install, I do find value with the SSC, but a Domino admin expects to install ALL of the components in one ST server. This should be easy, just like we do for the main Domino server. Do you want a "First server" or "Additional server" with the install doing either the full bundle, or doing an additional ST server which get's what it needs and self registers to the SSC "first server".
I have changed the status of this item from Planned to Future Consideration, as this idea includes many items.
I believe Tomas was responding to the "make it easier to deploy" item.
Separating different ideas into their own item will make it easier for us to respond, to track, and to plan.
Thanks!
Julie
Can you please submit a new idea for the OS/400 support? We would like to handle this independent from the general idea to make Sametime more simple to install and to handle.
Thomas, can you elaborate on what is planned for this? And is it planned for R10 or R11? Thanks.
Need to restore support for Limited Use running native on OS/400.
I agree, Docker might be only one option. A lot of our smaller customers throw Sametime out of the Windows, because since version 9 it is complicated to install and maintain and needs a lot of hardware compared to XMPP. Those customers would not have knowlledge and infrastructure for Docker, which you would have to build up also.
(other customers just stay on Sametime 8.5, although soon out of support)
Docker not helpful. Just remove requirement for SSC.
Docker images could be one solution, but IBM/HCL should be aware usage of Docker images most likely is NOT common by Domino admins, so other more traditional solutions may also be needed
In response to Thomas Hampel comment, A docker image would be great if it means that IBM / HCL will support CentOS since to my understanding the major reason IBM cannot distribute VM image of their software is because they did not own the license of the Operating System on said VM.
How about a Docker image?
