We use Notes 14.5 FP1 Standard Client + Sametime 11.6 Limited Use Server. The following is the current behavior to display user's presence status when this user concurrently login to Sametime Server from multiple devices with the same user id.
- Logged in to Sametime on device A (Notes 14.5FP1) as user : TestUser/XXX. Sametime's "Automatic Status Change" is set to switch to Away status if the keyboard and mouse are not used for 20 minutes (default setting after installation).
- Logged in to Sametime on device B (Notes 14.5FP1) with the same user : TestUser/XXX. Sametime's "Automatic Status Change" is also set to switch to Away status if the keyboard and mouse are not used for 20 minutes (default setting after installation).
1. Let's assume that you are using device A to perform work and leaving device B unused.
2. After 20 minutes in this state, TestUser/XXX will change to Away status due to the settings both on device B and device A, even if you are using Sametime on device A.
3. After changing to Away status, if you perform any key or mouse operations on device A, TestUser/XXX will change to Available.
4. Within one minute of becoming available, TestUser/XXX will change to away status due to the settings on device B.
5. After changing to away status, if you perform any mouse operation on device A, TestUser/XXX will change to available status on both devices.
6. From then on, steps 4 and 5 will be repeated (alternating between away status and available at intervals of less than one minute).
We requested to change the above awkward current behavior to the following new behavior:
When the same user is logged in on multiple devices concurrently, I would like the status of the last active device to be displayed, rather than overwriting it with the status of inactive devices.
For comparison, I will use Microsoft Teams, which is also used for chat. In Teams, the status is determined by the status of the active device, and the status of inactive devices is not taken into account, as shown below.

User presence in Teams
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/presence-admins
--------------------------------------------------
If a user is logged into Teams on two or more devices (for example, both a desktop computer and a mobile phone), their presence is determined by the device they were most recently active on. Say a user is on both a computer and a mobile device and is currently working on their computer, their presence comes from their computer. If they disconnect on their computer, their presence comes from the state of their mobile device.
