The function disabling persistent chat.

Up through version 9.0, Sametime was designed not to store chat histories on the server; however, starting with Sametime 11, the system is designed to store histories on the server and display their contents. Althogh Sametime 11.6 did include a policy to disable persistent chat, this policy no longer exists in Sametime 12 and later versions.

For this reason, in Sametime 12, the default behavior is to retain chat history. The setting to disable persistent chat is required.
