Enable local archiving and opening a local archive in Verse On Premise

Yes, I am aware that is there is a similar idea ( but it has been merged and the focus of that merged idea seemed to be on server - based archiving.

We have presented Verse on Premise to many customer. Initially they were very interested, but they backed away as soon as they heard that

  1. You cannot do archive to local NSF (manual AND scheduled) in VOP. They don't want to spent additional server storage just for archive NSF. Meanwhile PC now comes with hundreds of GB of disk.
  2. You cannot open existing local archive in VOP. This means that they still need to deploy Notes Client to open those local archive.

This is not possible in Verse due to constraints applied by the browser environment. We are not able to reach out to the file system from the browser environment and therefore can not utilise any local archive. This is also true of Nomad in a browser. The only thing we can do is import the .nsf to the local file storage. This can be blown away by the user in the browser and the file storage. This creates a huge problem for any form of local archive.

It will not be possible to achieve this in Verse on Prem.

    No Plan to Implement.
