I believe VOP needs to be extensible, to allow integration with other systems.
A particular interest is integration with Salesforce. Essentially this would replicate the functionality of 'Lightning for O**l**k'.
I'm seeing sales guys spending more and more of their working time in a browser, and Verse as a mail client would work well as just another tab in their browser environment. At the moment though, I see no practical way of integrating Verse and Salesforce in this way. (Please, please correct me if I'm wrong).
For those unfamiliar with 'Lightning for O**l**k', here is the approximate functionality....
As e-mails are opened, the equivalent record within Salesforce opens in a pane on the right, allowing e-mail interactions to be quickly recorded into Salesforce, along with telephone calls, and any other actions, tasks, or events. Salesforce searches can be carried out in the right-hand pane, new records created, and if required the full Salesforce record can be opened in another browser tab.
The feedback I'm getting from our sales environment is that they would love the power of Salesforce brought into their e-mail client, and as a by-product, this feature would help keep our e-mail on Domino!!!
We are looking closely at adding an extension which would be similar to Lightning.
Hi, Thanks for your comment. Have you looked in the Salesforce AppExchange under both IBM Notes and IBM Domino. There are a set of partners offering this integration. If you've looked and none of them meet your needs, can you tell me what they lack. I believe Riva also can provide the capabilities you're looking for. Thanks.
