Welcome to the #dominoforever Product Ideas Forum! The place where you can submit product ideas and enhancement request. We encourage you to participate by voting on, commenting on, and creating new ideas. All new ideas will be evaluated by HCL Product Management & Engineering teams, and the next steps will be communicated. While not all submitted ideas will be executed upon, community feedback will play a key role in influencing which ideas are and when they will be implemented.

Categories from formulas

Using NotesViewEntryCollection and NotesViewNavigator, category rows can be retrieved from a view (NotesViewEntry with IsCategory = True). Aggregate values can then be retrieved from them (using ColumnValues) without retrieving documents and aggregating their values.

With formulas, this is not possible and would need to be implemented. It would be enough to add another keyword to @DbLookup (similar to [FAILSILENT] and [PARTIALMATCH], eg [CATEGORIESONLY]), which would read values from category lines instead of values from document lines.

I think a formula retrieving categories only is interesting, but for me @DbColumn would make more sense when it would return only unique values like categories.
