A workaround for you. If you put your js files in the web content area of the db in package explorer, you can use the more advanced javascript features. It's if you've created them as a javascript library portion of the traditional designer that you can't save them.
Installed Release 14. Created a new JavaScript library, typed

tried to save. Validation error. It's been years.The server side javascript editor at a minimum needs to have the same functionality as the client side editor with the object tree on the left hand side so you can drill down into your objects.
