Welcome to the #dominoforever Product Ideas Forum! The place where you can submit product ideas and enhancement request. We encourage you to participate by voting on, commenting on, and creating new ideas. All new ideas will be evaluated by HCL Product Management & Engineering teams, and the next steps will be communicated. While not all submitted ideas will be executed upon, community feedback will play a key role in influencing which ideas are and when they will be implemented.

Thomas, wish that was true. The Alternate Name is also stored in the ID file. The entire process for adding this is based on altering the certifier and Certify users by that altered certifier.
a. Add language to the certifier
b. Certify user and choose the language ( a. ) and set the Alternate Name
This is the procedure for adding an Alternate Name. For B. you need access to the id file: https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSKTMJ_9.0.1/admin/conf_addinganalternatelanguageandnametoauserid_t.html
Why does the alternative name have to be in the ID file ? you can update the Domino directory to add any kind of alias, or ?
