HCL Symmetrical Cluster on Domino V10.0.1

HCL Product Dev Team,

Hope you doing great!!

It will be good if HCL Product Dev team can work on HCL Symmetrical Cluster on Domino for V10.0.1 to setup\work for different folders for user's mail file or applications. please see below mentioned example.

eg:-

  • We have 4 Mail Servers on domino V10.0.1 and all (2 servers each) are in clusters .

  • Server A all user’s mail file hosted on Mail Folder (Primary Copy) and Server B (Cluster Copy).

  • Reason for all user’s mail file hosted on Failover folder (Cluster server or user mail copy) to avoid duplication of daily, weekly, monthly scheduled backups.

  • As per the design to work Symmetrical cluster both user's mail file directory would be same on cluster servers:(

  • Possible to update design or create some hot fix to work this function on these kind of scenario as this is very important functions introduced by HCL.

Thank you and I'm looking forward to hear from you soon.

Stay healthy and Stay safe.

kind regards,

Mahesh Dhuri

It seems like you need to review and optimize your backup concept. So you have a "mail/" directory on server1 and server2, both are in a cluster. The directory is configured to be symmetrical.

Some remarks that would help in your situation:

    1. Users with homeserver1 should have mail files in a directory called "mail1", users on server2 will use "mail2". You can then back up the data on the primary server only because you know that all files in directory "mail1" belong to a specific server.

    2. Make sure to DAOS and rethink your backup concept. For DAOS you only need incremental backups throughout the month and maybe one fullbackup a month or quarter

    3. Depending on what backup software you are using, use an agent in Domino to loop all person documents of the "current" server and create a local *.txt file that is listing all file names of users where the home server is the current server. This file will be used to feed your backup program with the information what to back up.

    4. I hope you're talking abotu Active-Active cluster members.
