Restrict the number of messages a single user can send in 24 hours to a maximum number of messages

Sometimes users are victims of clever phishing emails sent to them. Unfortunately this opens up the use of their valuable credentials to potential hackers. These hackers can then send email using their credentials.

If Domino would have an internal counter that tracks the number of messages a single user can send in 24 hours to an internet address to a maximum number of messages, e.g. 500 messages , we could limit the problem from a large scale DSGVO disaster to something we as IT team can cope with on a smaller scale.

This feature is must to have to control spam outbreak from Domino. In case a group mail is required to be sent from a specific person, it may be allowed to specific user at scheduled time/permanently.

The idea is to have a counter for every person that can send email. Once this single user reaches the limit of e.g. 500, mail should be held back in the mail.box router mailbox. The spammer could still use the account to send e.g. 200 messages in the morning, wait a bit, send another 200 messages in the afternoon. However, the next pool of 200 messages sent in the late evening, will only send 100 and then the router will hold the last 100 messages back. This would usually create an error message for the Domino admin about quite a lot of messages that can not be sent out. Reason: error max. number of message reached the limit of 500 messages that can be sent in 24 hours. So in your scenario, 500 would get delivered, one (1) not - causing the error message and get a dead message in the mail.box.

What should happen with a mail sent to a group of 501 people?
