Welcome to the #dominoforever Product Ideas Forum! The place where you can submit product ideas and enhancement request. We encourage you to participate by voting on, commenting on, and creating new ideas. All new ideas will be evaluated by HCL Product Management & Engineering teams, and the next steps will be communicated. While not all submitted ideas will be executed upon, community feedback will play a key role in influencing which ideas are and when they will be implemented.

Not sure if increasing a server beyond a certain level will scale file-system wise!
40.000 entries per folder is already a high limit. We usually reduce it to 20.000 per folder. This is true for Windows and Linux.
Domino performance will be still good. But you also have to think about incremental backup performance and disaster recovery!
We usually split archive servers using dynamically assigned archive policies as a best practice.
If you take 40000 * 9999 * 128 KB as a smallest maximum physical size, that would be quite a huge amount of data. Even if you select 64 KB as a threshold, this will be a two digit TB size.
What could make sense is to allow multiple DAOS stores for more flexibility.
I would be interested to hear how much storage your DAOS directory has today.
