Views with display only the TOP X documents

It would be great if we could make views, which display only the TOP X documents depending on its sorted columns (similar to the SQL function). The result would be that we could have a fast and small view / view index containing only a limited amount of documents.

This would apply for all view to display the top most things, therefore the "lower entries" are not interesting. However, the devloper could decide weather to display only the TOP 10 documents or TOP 1000 documents.

This would also work for views sorted by date, so the older documents simply vanish at the users active working view.

I understand this as pagination or data display in necessary portions in the Notes client (arrows/keys flipping Up, PgUp, Down, PgDn, Ctrl+End, fly search...). And it is in this sense that this is a good idea.

And, no this should not be a date part of the view selection, but only the "directive", to display the TOP 100 "newest" document within that view.

In other words, the routine which builds the view index should do its work like before, but cuts the result if the TOP X number of documents is reached, so instead of having a view index of data of 100k documents it would only save a tiny view index with the TOP 100 most relevant documents.

This could be used on every cases which handle newest, oldest, highest or lowest data.

What I would want is a view based on it's selection formula and the sorting only displays the top x documents.

Which means that the selection criteria must be connected to the sorting option. Or it's just a 'hide'-feature of some sort.

You mean a view that allows to include Date/Time/Now as part of the view selection formula?
