We need this also to make no searchavle some sensitive fields, hidden fields.

Great idea, and I can think of a few uses for this. Depending on how impleneted we could have to rebuild all indexes that required this feature.
A very good idea.
1. Reducing the load on the server
2. Speeding up FT index search
3. Downsizing FT index
4. Speeding up rebuilding and updating FT index
I have an NSF database with over 2000 fields, but I need only about 20 fields to search.
I want the FT index to be much smaller.
This would be very convenient and reduce the load on the servers.
I think that a good option is to add a new flag for the field, by analogy with other flags: Summary, Encrypted, Signed....

For example you couldn't find any relevant information in your DD (Domino Directory) for administrator because his name is present in almost all documents in the DD. But only in "Owner" item (if it contains default value).
Another decision is make some fields excludable for searching in the FT query language.
