The current search in the top right corner lets you toggle where to search but you don't have the ability to customize it to search in multiple apps. Something like the multidatabase search we had back in R5 would work if updated to the Exclipse modern look/feel. I have implemented "dashboards" with this functionality, but being able to search across a series of apps from the UI would be beneficial.
APIs and toolkits for interfacing NSF files do already exist. Vendors just have to use it.
