Mails seen in "All Documents" but not in "Inbox"

It has been observed that at times mails while searching are found in "All Documents" but not in "Inbox", which is very inconvenient as a user tends to check Inbox and not All Documents. There is a chance that the user might loose on very important e-mail(s).

The inbox is a folder which (on purpose) does not display the mails that you have move moved to a folder, that you have sent, or those that are deleted (=trash). So it works as designed.

If you observe a situation where a new mail is delivered to "all documents" but not to "Inbox" the there is a problem in your environment. Very likely because you are running a clustered environment where the design task runs on both servers at the same time. Solution: Enable the checkbox "Replace design on admin server only" and then fix the database design. Root cause is a duplicated $Inbox design element.

Wouldn't it be very confusing to search the inbox and get results that weren't in the inbox?

Isn't that what "All Documents" is for?
