Normalize local names.nsf database title to hierarchical Notes name after client configuration

Description:

When configuring a new HCL Notes client using an Internet mail address (for example, abc@test.com) as the user identifier, the local names.nsf database title is created using the Internet mail address instead of the user’s hierarchical Notes name. This behavior persists even after the client successfully resolves and authenticates the user using the canonical hierarchical Notes name.

In enterprise environments with automated client deployment and directory-driven configuration, the Internet mail address is often the only available unique identifier at installation time. While Notes correctly resolves the canonical hierarchical name internally for authentication and access control, this resolved identity is not used to normalize client-side display elements such as the names.nsf database title.

Current Behavior:

  • Client configured with Internet mail address

  • names.nsf database title reflects the Internet mail address

  • No automatic normalization to hierarchical Notes name

Expected Behavior:

Once the Notes client has resolved the canonical hierarchical Notes name (already required for authentication), the client should automatically align display-related elements, specifically the names.nsf database title, with that hierarchical name, rather than the initially supplied identifier.
