Anniversaries can certainly be ignored. Reminders, appointments, and all-day events should also be marked as important. A visual indicator is definitely useful and desirable.
Can you please give more details why this is needed?
The other type of calendar events are personal events like Appointment, Anniversary, Reminder, All Day Events. For these, there are no other participants. So why do they need to be marked as High Importance or Not?
Would we need to convey which of these are important or not to ourselves?
