Welcome to the #dominoforever Product Ideas Forum! The place where you can submit product ideas and enhancement request. We encourage you to participate by voting on, commenting on, and creating new ideas. All new ideas will be evaluated by HCL Product Management & Engineering teams, and the next steps will be communicated. While not all submitted ideas will be executed upon, community feedback will play a key role in influencing which ideas are and when they will be implemented.

If memory serves, iNotes came out before XPages which explains why it works differently. Quickr is the same way - old style methods. The other issue is backward compatibility, if you want it, you have to stick with how it was originally created.
To be honest iNotes is a depreciated product. Domino.Doc, Quickplace / Quickr is an End of Life product. Even XPages is not considered modern web programming anymore. So I personally think that it is almost impossible for HCL to spend development effort on them.
