Allow field exit on the enter key during data entry

This improves user experience by allowing users to fully use the numeric keypad when entering numbers and dates. At present this is a two handed affair or a full move across the keyboard when typing with the right hand and reaching across the keyboard to the tab key.

It also allows us to implement search entry fields which work the same way as in a web browser. i.e the user types in a search term and presses the enter key to initiate the search.

This would only work with text, date and time and numeric fields only where "Allow multiple values" is unchecked.  It would be indicated by a "Use enter key as field exit" check box which would be off by default and checked to activate the feature.

The weird point since the beginning of Notes is, that no one seems to complain about, that the Enter-Key in a single value numeric oder date field create a new line.

And indeed, a field property would be would be great.

@Guest, Your image shows "pressing TAB key moves to the next field"; that is already the way Notes works.

I'm thinking it should read "pressing ENTER key moves to the next field".

You need to be careful here as you don't want to move to the next field if you are entering rich text information.

You also don't want to make developers have to edit forms because the default behavior has changed.

This is an pain that is only felt by those who have to enter numeric and date information continuously during the day.

My last paragraph explains how this could be implemented.

      1. Only for numeric, text, date and time fields

      2. "Allow multiple values" is unchecked

      3. New check box - "Use Enter key for field exit" - off by default.

May be some new property for the field - Pressing Enter moves to next field - which also triggers Exiting/onChange subs.
