Merging this idea with another focused on Business Card administration.
Concerning Connections integration, the embedded Notes client utilizes the Connections plugin to achieve this. From Sametime Web and Mobile clients, specifying the Connections profile url in the PhotoURL field will use the photo stored in the Connections' profile.
Using HCL Connections photos for the Sametime business card
An idea: as an option: place the uploaded image directly into Domino Directory photo.
We are stuck as we have Connections which is where the profile pictures are being pulled from. It causes a lot of confusion some clients use Connections whereas others do not so there can be different pictures depending on the type of user.
Using the Verse client there is an option to change your picture but not sure if this is only because of our integration with Connections.
This being said, this functionality should be applied to non-connections based environments which could update the picture in the Domino directory.
Outside of the scope for Sametime, the Verse picture should be one found in the directory as well which is where Sametime ( without Connections ) also gets the picture from.
