Close all Chats - because "Close all" does not close all

The embedded Sametime client in the Notes Client opens every time in one window with all lapsed chats.

If you got, lets say "some" associates withing a 1.500 users company, the list of lapsed chat grows fast. within a day the list is longer as the window may cover it.

Any morning this list will be provided with all the persistent chats from the Mongo DB until the first loading issues becomes visible.

This missing clean up already leads into errors.

This list never gets cleaned up. Only if the user takes some time an closes the chats, one by one.

Closing the window does only pause the chats.

But - hey - there is a "Close all" option at the tiny gear menu right hand.

But sadly, it does simply the same as the "X" at the window. It only pauses the situation. "Close all" does just hide the window. It closes no session, no chat.

I like to propose a police driven setting

This controls the re-open behaviour after a close by "X", ESC, or a close menu action: Close all chats and start from new with non of the lapsed chats

(as default)

or - switch to the currently existing behaviour. (non default) If this behaviour is chosen, a "real" close all chats action should also be available in the menu.

The issue is already addressed by case CS0147504 and SAME-35813.

Thank you.

This issue was addressed in 11.5. "Close All" does now close all the 1-1 and group chats currently displayed from the Connect and Embedded clients. As an FYI, these clients are limited to display only a certain amount for performance reasons. On restart, any chat history present in the database that was not "closed" will now load and display it the closed chat's place. This is actually what's happening when restarting and seeing more chat histories displayed. Repeating this process will eventually reach the end of "open" chats in the database. The chat history is not lost and reopening a conversation will display the TTL history of the conversation. "Close All" is only removing the chats displayed on the clients.

It's important to note, "Close All" will also close group chats resulting in the user leaving. The user will need to be re-invited back to view the group chat. We are looking to add a "Close All Chats" and "Close All Group Chats" to separate this action and avoid leaving group chats when it's not desired.

Lastly, improvements have been made to help improve the chat loading window on startup to help avoid the need to "Close All". If issues are continuing, please open a support case. Thanks!
