Welcome to the #dominoforever Product Ideas Forum! The place where you can submit product ideas and enhancement request. We encourage you to participate by voting on, commenting on, and creating new ideas. All new ideas will be evaluated by HCL Product Management & Engineering teams, and the next steps will be communicated. While not all submitted ideas will be executed upon, community feedback will play a key role in influencing which ideas are and when they will be implemented.

Support TEL: Protocol handler for Sametime Client to allow starting a call from other apps
TEL: is the usual protocol handler that soft phones require to embed click-to-dial functions from other apps like browsers. If Sametime could register for TEL: in the operating system on install, clicking on a phone number (better: a TEL: URL) would bring the client to front and have it dial that number. This could be working like tel:123456 or tel:+123456 (including international code) but also tel:email@example.com if that user's email address is listed in the sametime directory. For sure, for number dialling we either need a sip trunk (SUT Lite Config) or the SIP soft phone enabled. We should also consider SIP: and CHAT: or IM: as protocol handlers. SIP: would be an alias to TEL: but CHAT: or IM: would start a chat with a user (like chat:<email>
