Sametime (LU), which is much simpler to use.

Sametime LimitedUse should be easier to use!

Specifically.
Not docker
No MongoDB required

Because it is the Domino administrator who manages Sametime LimitedUse.

Currently most Domino's are Windows Server. They have Windows Server skills and operational know-how.

The new installation requirements for Sametime 12 (docker-only, MongoDB required, LDAP required) and the user profile are diverging.docker and MongoDB are not part of their skill set.

    Thank you for this feedback. On Dec 12, 2024, Sametime 12.0.2 FP2 was released providing a new Chat Only (LU) deployment on Windows. This support does not require a containerized deployment and greatly simplifies deployment and upgrades to v12.x. MongoDB still is a requirement to support persistent chat.
