I stand corrected. The reminder option is there. However, it is indeed quite hidden as a small icon and not well documented. For people looking for it, it's the little clock icon next to the repeat and timezone icon.

If the "Reminder" option is there, which I seriously doubt, it's extremely well hidden.

Types are there, they are just exposed differently in the new form. The only one you can't create right from the form is an appointment, but you can create that via blocked time in the calendar view if you really want an appointment.
