I added this idea and I think it should probably be marked 'already exists'.
I tried encrypting some databases on the server using existing database encryption and it seems to work just fine. Thank you for pointing me to the procedure.
I also understand that v12 will allow the server ID to be protected using Windows credentials. That will also help.
As far as I am concerned this idea already exists.
A database on the server is local to the perspective of the server. Encrypting it while on the server encrypts with the server's ID on the server's storage.
The feature you're looking for is already available.
Unless I am reading it incorrectly, existing database encryption applies to locally stored databases, not to databases stored on a server and accessed by multiple users.
How about using the existing database encryption ? https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSVRGU_9.0.1/basic/H_DATABASE_ENCRYPTION_OVERVIEW.html
