Create Domino Server based on ServerTemplate

When you add a new server, you always have to change it afterwards. You have to change the security, clusterport information, etc.

It would be so nice if you could choose from a Server template where all that stuf is already filled in when you create a new Domino server.

The main problem is that after you install the new server and let it replicate, there are Always replication conflicts on the ServerDocument because you never leave it standard like it is.

Yes, a customizable predefined set of server types with all security settings in place would help a lot.

Correction: choose from servertemplate when registering a new server.

Instead of customizing the default templates, you should have some kind of predefined server configurations ( server templates ) where you can choose from during the first server-start.

I'd like to understand this idea in a broader way. Instead of doing everything manually you would like to have the perfect configuration settings applied based on the type of server you are going to set up. e.g. mail, apps, smtp, traveler, hub, web, etc.

Maybe a predefined set of server types that you can choose from, as well as your own server types. Would something like this help?

You do know that you can create a new Domino Directory template and customize it to add default value to any field that you want, right ?
